ART DOCENT PROGRAM

The Inyo County Art Docent Program provides a sequential, interactive K-5th grade education in art history and artistic skills, allowing teachers and volunteer docents to address a significant part of the California Arts Standards.

Each session begins with a “Gallery Visit,” where students view several master artworks based on a theme. Students observe differences and similarities, analyze, interpret, and respond to the artwork. Then students develop artistic skills through hands-on activities using a variety of media and techniques. Students respond to, and express their creative ideas based on, the theme artwork and art objectives.

Art Docent volunteers are parents or other family members, and community volunteers. No prior art experience is needed. All materials and training are provided.  Click on the flyer to learn more!
