CARBE AND DURAND RETURN WITH A FULL BAND TO A BISHOP “DRIVE-IN” CONCERT NOVEMBER 7
The guitar duo of Carbe and Durand are led by guitarists Liza Carbe and JP Durand, co-founders of the renowned world guitar group INCENDIO. The duo has also had the privilege of stage-managing the Millpond Music Festival for years now. Liza & JP are very pleased to be able to return to Bishop amidst this pandemic to perform a responsible, socially-distanced “drive-in-style” show at the Tri-County Fairgrounds on Saturday, November 7th.
Carbe and Durand have agreed to do this special Bishop show with some great LA musician pals to support them. Jeffery Marshall is a touring guitarist for the Alan Parsons Project and renowned Musicians Institute teacher in Hollywood. Carey Frank, along with a few other young keyboardists, spurred a Hammond B3 revival in Los Angeles in the last decade; Frank has toured with Tedeschi Trucks Band as well as Social Distortion (backing up Bruce Springsteen at a 2019 show). He also teaches at the LA College of Music. Powerhouse drummer John Platero has backed up acts as diverse as the legendary Bo Diddley, Cher and Woody Harrelson, not to mention a few Fort Lauderdale jams with legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius (the very same for whom Incendio fave “Jaco y Paco” was written).
The concert will draw on compositions from the Incendio catalog, many well known to Millpond Music Festival attendees thanks to the full band’s previous three appearances, as well as Carbe and Durand’s two duo shows there. The music will also include select covers showcasing a more jam-style setup as well as the improvisational energy of the quintet.
Gates open at 6pm, and the music will begin at 7pm with an opening act: Bishop-based pals STRING THEORY featuring Dan Connor and Greg Smith. Carbe and Durand will take the stage at 8pm.
This “drive-in” style concert is a socially distanced event. Masks are required outside your vehicle. Tickets are $35 per vehicle and can be purchased at tricountyfair.org/event. There will be food for sale from Pino Pies and The Rolling Chef. Beer/wine and Bishop Twin Theater concessions will also be for sale.
