State funds support community building and learning through youth-focused arts and culture projects
INYO COUNTY, CA – Earlier this month, the California Arts Council announced a grant award to Inyo Council for the Arts (ICA) as part of its Youth Arts Action program, allowing ICA to continue funding its after school arts programming throughout Inyo County.
Youth Arts Action supports projects for youth that operate outside of school time in artistic venues, community settings, and on school sites. This program encourages relevant, dynamic, and innovative community building and learning through youth-focused arts and culture projects.
Building on the success of the After School Classes program ICA implemented in 2018, teaching artists from across Inyo County will continue to provide free, comprehensive, culturally and linguistically responsive fine arts units for Inyo County students. We are excited to again partner with the Inyo County Probation Department for this grant program. These countywide after school programs will teach fine art skills and mentor student artists to develop their own personal style and sense of artistic expression. Inyo Council for the Arts is one of 244 grantees chosen for the Youth Arts Action program. The award was featured as part of a larger announcement from the California Arts Council, with grant funds totaling a projected $24,508,541 for 2018-19, the highest investment in statewide arts programming since the 2000-01 fiscal year.
