The Art Docent Program
The Inyo County Art Docent Program provides a sequential, interactive K-5th grade education in art history and artistic skills, allowing teachers and docents to address a significant part of the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards.
Each session begins with a “museum approach,” where students view several master artworks based on thematic groupings. Students observe differences and similarities among several artworks at a time. They learn how to observe, analyze, interpret and respond to artwork.
Students develop artistic skills through hands-on lessons using a wide variety of media and techniques. Students express their creative ideas based on the theme and art objectives.
Art Docents are parents, teachers, and community volunteers. No prior art experience is needed. Click on the flyer to learn more!
If you are interested in enriching children’s lives through art by becoming a classroom docent, please contact Erin Livingston, School Arts Coordinator at Inyo Council for the Arts at 760-873-8014.
